Week 7

Hi Everyone,
It's been a busy week.  Sorry I haven't blogged lately.  Last week I had the opportunity to attend a conference on Project Based Learning in Canton.  It was a great three days and I was able to complete a project on Greece with one of my colleagues, Mrs. Walbridge!  We will be starting the project in Mr. Barkley's room sometime soon.  I can't wait to see how it goes!  I think the students will enjoy learning about Ancient Greece using the project we designed.

This week we enjoyed listening to Mrs. Collins talk to us about her life journey.  She also handed out certificates to all the students and teachers that attended the Board of Education meeting on October 15th. We had 20 STEM students and their parents, along with STEM teachers and 2 student teachers attend the Board meeting.  Several students and all staff presented information on STEM.  I will be posting pictures from the Board meeting as soon as I upload them from my phone.

Students had a great time with our activity this week.  They were given a bag with the following items: spaghetti, a marshmallow, string, 36" of tape, and scissors.  They had 18 minutes to build the tallest stand alone structure that they could make.  We had 5 groups complete the task and the tallest one was about 20 inches tall.
